Not really a security company. The Indiana Guard Reserve is the state's military force that cannot be called to Federal service like the National Guard can.

What??? The Indiana Guard Reserve is not the Indiana National Guard, since when can a state have its own Military Force not subject to Federal recall

"Security Company" tongue in cheek.
And yes, MP's do provide security.

As stated in the Bill Of Rights "Amendment II

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. "

There are many unlawful, self created militias that are just a bunch of nuts. Texas has the State Guard that is an organized militia, created by the legislature, they are part of the State Adjudant General dpeartment. They can only be activated by the governor and can only operate within the state. Many states have a provisioin for organizations like this. I know that Florida law provides for a state militia, but has not created one. There are nut cases running around in Florida claiming to be a militia but they are not.

i have no idea if the Indiana group is legitamate or not. If they are legitimate they would not be eleigble for federal military frequencies but could be licensed as a public safey agency of the State. when i see them licensed under business it makes me wonder if they are lawfully created or not. Someone would have to read the state laws of Indiana to see if they have been created.

I had a few minutes so I went to the FCC files and looked at the application for this Indiana Guard Reserve and under elegibility it states:

90.35 - SECURITY COMPANY. RADIOS WILL BE USED TO COORDINATE PERSONNEL AND EVENTS

So this is just a private security company, going around acting like they are something important. I am surprised the state agency that issued them the license, if they have one, didn't refuse to accept the name as it insinuates they are a governmental agency. I know some states are very strict on names.

From http://mdisdf.org/history.html

Finally, another attempt was made in 1961, by then Governor Matthew Welch and Adjutant General John Anderson, to develop a new, if not completely different military auxiliary organization. The new organization was designated the Indiana Guard Reserve (the IGR) and has maintained a healthy involvement and fairly constant membership now for some 35+ years. It should be noted that it was very similar to the organization which preceeded it, with one major exception; the word "state" was removed from the title in order to avoid any misconception that it was the Indiana State Guard which by Indiana law can only be activated if the National guard is mobilized for federal service.
The Indiana Guard Reserve was stipulated to have a number of duties to perform. It would become the Indiana State Guard if and when the National Guard was federalized. When the National Guard was federalized the Indiana Guard Reserve would take over the armories of the state and assume responsiblity for all state property in these armories. It was also stipulated that the Indiana Guard Reserve would remain active and be trained to perform a number of other duties.
In summary, the mission of the Indiana Guard Reserve is to maintain, organize, and train military forces capable of timely and effective response; in support of orders from the Governor under all conditions prescribed by the civil statutes of Indiana; to provide military assistance to civil authorities under conditions of disaster or emergency and to assume the state's responsibilities of the Indiana National Guard upon their mobilization into federal military service. The mission was expanded to include care and counseling for family members of the Indiana National Guard once they are federalized.

Dude,

You are so far off.

They are part of the state. Among other things they staff the armorys when the troops are out.

What part of guard Reserve dont you get?

they claimed to be a security business in their application for an FCC license. can't have it both ways
Anyone can apply to join, even if no prior military experience. it's sort of quasi-military or para-military until/unless the National Guard is federalized, then they come and take over "security"

I did see they had an opening on the website for a communications coordinator. But I would have to be inducted as a major or colonel before I would considered it. :)

They have an opening for a communciations person.

I would only consider it if I could be a major or colonel. Wait I already did that once. :) Though I never reached that high of a rank.
