Inherited Site Location Data Question

I’ve noticed (only the few I’ve checked in RR DB) that if trunking site has its “Site Location Data -> Type” set to “Inherited (County)” the location info in Sentinel software actually inherits the coordinates/range data which covers the entire Trunked System. That logic makes sense to me.

Now for these few that I have checked the same trunking site which supposedly has inherited data, the webpage shows different coordinates/range info of the trunking site. The map image and data only cover that trunking site and not the entire Trunked System. This data looks correct for the site.

For example, look at “United States Air Force (3D6)” Trunked System and then open “Homestead Air Reserve Base” site. The web page shows location data as expected for a South Florida site and its type is set to “Inherited”. Now if you view the same data using the BCDx36HP Sentinel software the coordinates listed are in Kansas with a range of 1700.

Maybe I have my wires crossed and missing the bigger picture. Why are these sites defined as “Inherited” but show coordinates/range which are not inherited (“Defined Coverage”)?

Should these sites be changed from “Inherited (County)” to “Defined Coverage”?

Hopefully this is the correct forum for this question. My apologies if it isn’t.

The database info needs to be updated as the sites location shows no gps info.

but the site itself does, and it's showing in Florida, and with a range that should be reduced to cover the intended area of operation, which is the base itself. Both site and department.

But yes, both @ProScan and Sentinel show different gps locations.

Which seems to be the "Systemwide" that shows in Kansas with a 1600 mile range.

If you want to make a database submission asking for the info to be corrected, feel free. I can't get into that at the moment.

Similar situation on this system where multiple sites listed in correct counties in the database but gps info show them all as being in Nebraska.

A site can be
* defined coverage - coordinates defined for the site
* inherited (county) - no defined coverage, but a county entity is assigned so you inherit the county coverage
* inherited - overall system coverage details

problem is the consumers of the API (like Uniden etc) might be using different versions of the API which don’t automatically return some of these inherited values.

When you view the database online, you see exactly what we are calculating in the database for inherited values that would also be the very latest version of the API. We version the API for backwards compatibility because some of the consumers design their apps different ways.

You can see that change and version history here:

Most consumers are not using the latest versions. It’s really up to them…. As they might pre calculate inheritance themselves via other mechanisms
