During the morning Northern Rhode Island fire inter-city radio check-in roll call, I can hear the community of Metacom responding. Immediately, I was thinking of Bristol, RI, which would obviously be wrong. From their mutual-aid requests, it must be an area close to Woonsocket. A search on Google didn't provide any clues. I'm pretty sure that a member of this group knows the answer.

I'm aware that neighboring Massachusetts communities, like Attleboro, North Attleboro, Seekonk & areas surrounding Woonsocket have the ability to communicate on RISCON, but I was totally surprised this afternoon to hear a fire district in the Putnam, CT area, contact the West Glocester fire dispatch for a mutual aid rescue. This was the 1st time that I've heard a CT agency on RISCON. It's also great to see the MA State PD on RISCON.

Sounds like you heard Quinebaug Valley. They often chime in during the roll call as "Q - V"

Yes, I did hear valley mentioned, but I couldn't understand which valley they were referring to. Thanks!

Is the VHF channel still live and linked to RISCON? If so, chances are pretty good this is how the neighboring agencies are answering.

The towns mentioned have RIDs that would suggest they have RISCON capable radios. If you have a premium membership, you can listen to this morning's test starting at 08:10 on the CALLS platform.

North Attleboro MA is called and answers at 08:11:46, Quinebaug Valley is called and answers at 08:12:32. Note the Unit IDs are similar. There are number of them that have adjacent numbers and are all border dispatch centers, likely as a project to make mutual aid notifications easier for the calling center.
