Town of Oak island has announced that the will be returning to dispatching and recieving 911 calls for the town of oak island I am not for sure if it is just for pd or if they will also be dispatching fire,water rescue and rescue squad traffic from the town also. I will reread the info again but they town stated that it had something to do with the confusion that CCOM had with some of the roads in the town because ceveral of the county beach towns have similarly named roads. but i believe it may have something also to do with the new incredibly foul system

oak island law will be dispatched from oak island PD starting june 1st, howeverfor fire and rescue emergency's the two fd's and the rescue and water rescue squad will continue to be dispatched through ccom. some of the complaints are dealing with the lack of checking on the officers when on calls. also stated in the paper that it takes many times minutes or more for CCOM to answer the units which mr. Thompson Dismisses but I have been out and had that problem on the way to calls and have heard it take two minutes for CCOM to reply to Oak island officers, however i do believe that shortly Oak island FD, yaupon beach FD, OI rescue swaud and water rescue will end up back on the oak island dispatchers b/c of distance and confusion caused by the units being paged on another frequency and responding on another on the island

sad that this guy is praising it and it is a certified piece of trash. they had more officers not calling in and officers running 10-18 to try and find those officers only to get a nextel call from that officer saying he's fine just cant get out on this radio system.. ah bueracrecy at its finest
