TWC was hard selling me on their upcoming upgrade. Said when project is complete folks will get the faster rate for the same price. We will see how long that lasts.

15 to 50 mB
20 to 100 mB
30 to 150 mB
50 to 200 mB

Nice speeds! Our town now has 1 gigabit speeds through Suddenlink ... but I'm too cheap to pay for it. I have 50 megabit.

before i moved to Gainesville GA, i was in Conyers GA, which was comcast territory.

I had a 120/25 Mbit connect.

now with Charter im back to 60/4 Mbit. and im suffering on that upload coming from 25MBit to a lousy 4Mbit.

I'm also here with 6/.8 from Comcast. Seems slower than that most of the time though. I am on the edge of an area that has much higher, but infrastructure is pretty old in the country.

The nearby city has LED street lights and fast internet service available. That faster speed would be nice, but would come at a price of higher taxes, as we would have to be annexed into the nearby city.

At least it is not dialup, don't miss those days at all.

Knowing Comcast, I suspect the free upgrade is like a heroin pusher offering a free taste.

Comcast knows the FCC is getting rid of mandatory cable boxes in favor of open competition, and even cable TV is looking to fight (but not too hard) the breakup of cable, in favor of pay-per-channel and other plans. So if they give you free high speed connections, and get you used to streaming large amounts of content, guess what happens as "free" content goes away and it all becomes pay-per-gigabite or pay-per-whatever?

Right.(G) The pusher knows you will be hooked and paying through the nose to keep on getting all that content.

They may be Comcastic, but they ain't stupid. Everything they do is very cleverly done is reap profit.
