Using Bcd996p2 and proscan, I have UIDs for nearby patrol cars, is there a way to only follow a smaller area, I am in s.w. Iowa and Des Moines is part of my region, and they talk too much, curious if I can shrink the area so I only hear nearby patrol cars. Thanks for any suggestions.

Copilot answer: "...However, it does not scan or hold on a channel purely by UID; it scans based on talkgroups and frequencies."
I would agree with that answer.

Southwest Iowa is Region 4 try scanning only those talkgroups:

Thanks for the suggestion, I80 and I35 are both in this region and I was wanting to see if I could reduce the scanner traffic, they tend to talk alot.

Just a suggestion you might use the lockout feature on unwanted radio traffic. If while there is a transmission if you push the lockout button once the Talk Group is temporarily locked out. Turning the scanner off then back unlocks temporary lockouts. If during a transmission you quickly push the lockout button twice the Talk Group is permanently locked out. You can unlock any of these talk groups at any time by using the keypad to access the menu and individual systems and talk groups.

MW is Micro Wave site only which are used to connect different sites to the central controller and network. Trunk systems commonly use microwave links and internet systems to link every site in the network to the site controllers which is basically doing the same thing as the old telephone exchange in routing calls. The ISICS system is a digital network that route data packets (RF transmissions) to the selected Talk Groups and affiliated towers. The same basic systems are used with cell phone networks.

🔴 Red-Dotted Line - Represents areas where multiple transmitters are broadcasting the same signal at the same time. This ensures that the signal is consistent and can be received clearly over a wide area, which is particularly useful for emergency services to maintain communication over different locations without switching frequencies or channels.

⭐ Stars - Represents locally added radio communication sites that are specific to local jurisdictions within the state's interoperable communication system. These sites are tailored to meet the unique needs of local agencies, enhancing the statewide network to ensure comprehensive coverage and allowing for localized emergency communications alongside the broader state system.

🔺 Red Triangle - MW(Microwave) ONLY indicates sites that specifically use microwave links for communication. These sites are part of the communication infrastructure, providing connectivity between different radio towers and systems, often over long distances without the need for cables. Microwave sites are crucial for maintaining a reliable communication network, particularly for first responders and public safety officials.

🔵 Numbered Circles - Indicates specific radio sites, making it easy to locate the nearest one.

That is the wrong map for the Department of Public Safety. Those are the Homeland Security Districts which also aligns with the Regional talk group areas.

Use this map, but limit your talk groups to whichever district your in. Not all districts have their own talk group and are combined, which also increases radio traffic.
