• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I cannot find any solid technical details on this, only sales brochure info. Because the mobile is not full duplex I deduce that subscribers near to HM radio but out of range of repeater cannot hear each other, only traffic from repeater. In other words there is no repeating at remote HM site, only linking to actual repeater(s).

A helpful soul posted an IP transit application note excerpt from Hytera in a recent post . It was also the first time I saw any real detail outside of the HM785 datasheet. Its in here:
I would add that the release notes for V3 of the HP series have this, so I think the note posted above doesnt cover IP transit linking to IP multisite but it seems it now can.

it Is a remote transceiver with IP backbone. Could be used as remote base or tuned to a repeater. Pretty much what EchoLink does by connecting a PC (IP backbone) through sound card to a transceiver that is tuned to local repeater.
wonder if you can just tie 2 HM radios together over IP?

So the way it works is it kinda acts like a repeater in a way.
If youv got 2 HM782's with IP transit and connected to the internet you set it up just like you would for a IP site connect system. Make a master radio, add your groups into the access manager and then add the ip of the master into the slave radio

Any groups in the access manager will go out over the internet and be resent over the other IP transit radio.
Sadly this does NOT work like SFR does on the MD782/PD982's

Im using SFR and IP transit for different customers and the IP transit thing works rather well for what we need it to do

IP transit for now will not work with a repeater. So cant have a ip site connected repeater and have that work on the same network as a ip transit radio, apparently this will be a future upgrade tho so im told.

I just think of IP transit as a repeater that is simplex. Alot like SFR in some ways

Sorta.. But not at the same time. I think the dual capacity thing works a little different then SFR so dont completely communicate with each other
Encryption wise they talk. Moto -Enhanced Hytera-Full and thats no issue but since the hytera needs pseudo
Maybe one way would be to make 2 channels in the moto, 1 for slot 1 and other for slot 2. auto scan with a 0 second delay and tx on slot 1 only. So that way it will listen on slot 2 and tx on 1 so the SFR radio "should" accept that and send it back over?

Havnt tested but in a nut shell.. thats the idea of it
