Iredell is beginning to use P2 on their Viper system. The RRDB shows 4 simulcast data frequencies. My SDS200 shows when the coms are Slot 1 or Slot 2.
My question is when neighboring counties carry Iredell’s coms on sites in their county will they be P2 or do they revert to P1 only?

Viper System is a NC statewide system, it is not the Iredell Viper system, but rather the Iredell tower(s). P1 or P2 depends on the radios being used, the entire system is P2 capable, but if all radios are not P2 radios or properly configured for P2 the comms convert back to P1 (for now). At some point P1 radios or P2 radios not properly programmed for P2 will stop working.

Anything over TGID 25069 was added after the TDMA cutoff, so those talkgroups will always be TDMA. The TGs from 25000-25069 are dynamic and will stay TDMA until and FDMA radio joins the channel unless the county has requested their TGs be strapped to TDMA (which has happened for a few counties in the state already). There are no transcoders on the VIPER system, so a talkgroup will remain the same modulation system wide, meaning if a channel is TDMA on the coast, it will stay that way even if it's active in the mountains. I know most if not all Iredell TGs are available on Huntersville and Anderson Mtn, but I haven't personally confirmed any other sites. They should follow the same rule that allows county TGs to roam roughly one county in any direction. As mentioned above, if the TG is TDMA on the simulcast, it will also be TDMA on any other site it broadcasts from on the system.

Thank you I wasn't aware of this
