Hello everyone,

I have been trying to find out more information on CQPSK or know how to download the software if the modulation and reception will work better on my Pro-96 scanner.
I have been trying to talk to anyone that works at Radio Shack in my area and they don't seem to know what the  **** I am talking about! LOL.
Maybe I should go to another Radio Shack store that knows about the software to download if it will work on my scanner.
I guess some areas for CQPSK are not working as anticiapted on other forums. I live about 20 miles from Akron. Akron does break up at times and wonder if it would come in any better with the download?

I am not sure what to do or just have it the way it is?

Any suggestions would be appreciated,

Why hesitate to do the download? It takes seconds and only adds to the radio.

If you live 20 miles from Akron and can receive them with an occasional "breakup" be very happy.

821/866 systems are supposed to only work 3miles from their borders.

Thanks gcr33 for the information. Reception comes and goes with break-up but for the most part, I have pretty good reception.

I was hoping to get the download at the Radio Shack store but I guess they don't know what I am talking about, I guess I'll have to buy a cord to download CQPSK in my scanner when I have money to play with but I am broke now. I should be happy for what I got.

Well what can I say. The programming cable is $20 and not in stock.

Ask around either on the thread or with friends who have scanners and see if they will help you out.

It won't do much about Akron. They're a 3600 baud C4FM system. HOWEVER, I would still perform the update. I did, because you never know when you'll need it. It also tweaks the AGC so the digital isn't so much louder than the analog...

I live in Parma, if you have any more questions, let me know :)
