Is it worth the trouble and expense to get the upgrades for the available model Uniden scanners to do DMR for Okmulgee and Rogers County. Also the NXDX to pick up Claremore. The scanner would be located in Tulsa with an outside antenna. thanks

I cannot speak to the Tulsa area, but my SDS100 picks up all the add-ons you inquired about, as does my HP II. I have not added any upgrades to these devices.

@Tulsey
Are all of those you listed Places you could hear from were you are now before they went DMR and NXDN?
If the answer is yes then it is a good chance you could still receive them with the upgrades.
If the answer is no then your chances are not that good.

Its all about what you want to listen to - think you could probably Okmulgee and Rogers county.... But for me TPD / Jenks PD is enough.... I have DMR and NXDN in my Portable - because when I travel I often need them...

AFAIK Rogers County/Claremore is encrypted on the BARCN, haven't checked their old DMR stuff in a while. I use it for the businesses that run DMR and not trying to monitor and NXDN systems. I run both Uniden and A Whistler TRX-2 that come with DMR and NXDN installed. Been using a BCD996P-2 for mobile but a recent change in vehicles has me installing the TRX-2 in my mobile.

I am confused. When I looked at this thread, I wanted to see if any TPD talk groups are in the clear since the OKWIN P25 page said that TPD operated on this system. I know that they went to the dark side.

Tulsa PD and the OHP (Plus one other department) own the OKWIN system. Not long ago, they upgraded the system to APCO P25 Phase II and went digital. Most scanners these days are trying to catch up with the P II aspect of the transformation. Uniden BCD436HP and SDS100 are both portables and are upgraded for the P II platform. Whistler TR-X2 (I think that is the proper name) is also upgraded to P II. I understand that the Whistler is difficult to program.

If anyone is interested, I have a BCD436HP with TDMA, NXDX and ProVoice upgrades installed.

I live in OKC and have it programmed for central Oklahoma, Tulsa and Broken Arrow already. So if you live in one of these areas, you are already set. I will take $475.00 and with the upgrades, that is a very good price.

Send me a message if you have an interest.

Thanks. I have the same Uniden radios with all of the upgrades. I should have said, "I cannot find any category for Tulsa PD on the OKWIN P25 page. I don't know if they went totally "E." I put another search in & found a thread about TPD talk groups. Others seemed to be rather perplexed as well.

Dear God. Since I have 20/20 vision as a function of new lenses in my eyes, I suppose my mind is in neutral. I tried to find it on the same page. I even used "find on this page." I apologize for being so clueless, LOL.

Thanks for the responses.

Hello All - Yes Dispatch in the Clear (but not other comms) for TPD and they are still on P25 Phase I and not Phase II as @radiodog2009 reported. See Oklahoma Wireless Interoperability Network (OKWIN) (P25) Trunking System, Various, Oklahoma

Also Broken Arrow and Bixby are on their OWN Phase II system (Broken Arrow Communications Regional Network Broken Arrow Communications Regional Network Trunking System, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma) Bixby / Broken Arrow / Glenpool / Wagoner are encrypted on this system but oddly enough Jenks , Coweta and Claremore are in the clear on this system for now.

Do you have an active ID for Claremore PD on the BACRN network as nothing shows up in the database.

Some of my TV news friends are saying TPD may be flipping the switch as soon as next Monday. They have apparently given all the stations access to a way to view active calls live, but denied them radios to monitor.

Enjoy TPD channels being open while it lasts. I will definitely miss listening to them from time to time, I love how unique their dispatching is “(Unit) and a backer, (unit) and a car to back, start for a (incident). Break.” One of the most unique ones I’ve heard in all the cities I’ve shot news in over the years.
