• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I plugged in my CB radio backwards and turned it on and it did not work so I flipped the wires back to correct polarity and it popped the fuse and the second fuse I replaced it with My radio is a realistic

Inspect (and sniff) near the point where the power wires enter the inside of the radio. You will find a diode with its banded end connected to the positive side. It is most likely shorted or possibly burned.

Just google trc 435 and you will find the schematic . I did and it looks like D32 is on the power input as a protection circuit
Looks like a common 1N4003 rectifier diode
Really it can be replaced with something similar in that rating.
The 7808 regulator right after that are prone
To blow too. That’s used commonly on uniden products it’s just an 8 volt regulator.

It should have blown the fuse when you hooked it up backwards. Hopefully it's just the protection diode. Time to get out the ohm meter.

Reminds me of the other thread 10 pages long because OP didn't verify P/S.

Make sure you have 12V going into the radio harness. Then verify you have 12v at the radio plug itself.

I sold a car vac in a yard sale for 50 cents about a week later this old woman rings the door bell.
She hold up the car vac and said it does not work !
I looked at the power cord and somebody cut the car plug off and put a fancy home depot orange 120 ac power plugon the end.
I gave the woman a dollar and told her ther keep the change she walked off with a smile.
I looked at my wife who said who was that ?
I said the woman sold me a 7 dollar 120 volt 15 amp power plug for your vacuum cleaner for a dollar.

Cant make that one up !

I love stories like this.
Kind of related...
Old timer ham telling me a Field Day story from years ago. Late field day night, he was in charge of the generator. Generator for some reason shuts down, he goes out to investigate. Found it was out of gas and the gas can was nowhere to be found. Thinking quick, he fired up the lawnmower, unplugged the cord from the generator and stuck it in the wall outlet.
