I am very new to scanning so please excuse the basic question. I have tried to do as much research as possible and I know I need a digital scanner for my area.

Is there a dedicated digital frequency range?

Can you look at a frequency number and tell if its analog or digital?

Thanks for any information...much appreciated

There is no dedicated range, digital transmissions can be anywhere in the spectrum.
Digital transmissions are a type of emission, like fm, am, wfm and others.

Thank you for the reply.

Does that mean any frequency number can be analog or digital...what makes the difference is the source that's broadcasting

Yes, any frequency can be transmitted on with different emissions, however there are rules to doing this.
