I'm running a BC365CRS with a longer antenna from Amazon. Is there any way I could adjust something to improve reception or audio quality, or are there any better antenna suggestions?

Not sure if you your unit has a removable antenna or not. Also been looking for a better wide band scanning antenna.

So far research revealed plenty of folks seem pleased with a discone style antenna for reception. Especially if it's a fixed unit either in the attic or outdoors. Using it in a portable or mobile configuration, not so much.

It might not be for you, but certainly worth a look.

Thank you for the replies. I just bought a discone antenna and and I was going to switch to an SDR setup, so I think that should help a lot.

Just got everything set up with two SDR dongles and a Tram 1411 antenna hung in the attic. Everything seems to be working fine. It's just with sdrtrunk, the squelch tails are ridiculously loud on narrow FM.
If you are running Windows there is an auto leveling setting someplace in the sound settings. I use it on my Windows 10 computer running Unitrunker. It helps a lot! Let me know if you can't find it and I will take a look and try to provide more details.
