Howdy, I am not a radio guy just a fire fighter looking to setup the P25 II we just moved over to, I have Fast and it seems to be working but not getting the fire but I am getting the OCSO and EMS just fine. So any doc or more info would be great. Thanks....

The data in RRDB does not include Fire TGs for the Orange County P25 system - it's possible that the fire side has not transitioned to the new system yet. This is where local knowledge is key. If you are using a data download to limit the TGs that you receive, you will not be receiving any fire transmissions because their TGs have not been defined. The good news is that you seem to have a working installation. If you want, you can attach your .bat files and we can look at them for any errors. Can you verify if the fire is operating on the new system yet?

Yes we are using the system now,
Did you use a RRDB data download to set up DSD+? You can hand edit the Groups file to add the TGs if you know what they are. This is where Unitrunker comes in handy. And there should be an analog to a "ID Search" function with DSD+ that you generally get with scanners. Should be in the documentation files that you downloaded with DSD+.

Yes I edited the files, still learning ...thanks
There are threads about this system in the New York section of the forums - does sound a bit confusing about what actual traffic is carried on it.

I'm not sure what system you're looking at, but there is an entire category for Countywide Fire Talkgroups that has all 12 talkgroups listed. Are you sure that you're looking at the correct system?

Again, I'm not sure what you're looking at, but I posted a pretty clear list of who is currently operating on the system, and all of the relevant talkgroups are in the RRDB.

I must have missed the fire TGs when I skimmed the listing the other day. But that doesn't matter. The OP says he's not getting any FD traffic. Can you comment if the FDs are using the system regularly?

Yes, as indicated in my post in the NY forum, there are several fire departments actively using the system on a daily basis. Fire Response 1 (TG 4001) is the most active, with some activity also occurring on the Division talkgroups (4007 and 4011 in particular).

If he is hearing police and EMS traffic, but not Fire, then something is wonky with his setup. Perhaps he inadvertently locked some talkgroups out. While the system does have two simulcast cells, all traffic on Fire Response 1 is being carried on both cells. Some of the Division 1 traffic might only be carried on the South cell, so he may not hear that activity depending on which cell he is monitoring with DSD+. And no, none of the Fire talkgroups are using encryption of any kind, in case that question comes up next. 100% clear.
