• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Is this an alignment issue? Another M7100 question....

Im totally scratching my head on this one, I have two radios one is a p7100 and one is an m7100, and I am programming both with the same information to the best of my abilities. My theory is an alignment issue but it possible I could have something in the programming wrong.

Bear with me as I try to cover all my bases and provide as much information as possible.

I am trying to use my M7100 to listen to RFSS 3 Site 5 of the TXWARN (In a nonaffiliate scan configuration of course), although it is an 800 Mhz only radio it works flawlessly on my P7100 for this particular site. I figured why not try my mobile radio out as I got nothing to lose.

Although this is a P25 Phase 2 system, this one site broadcasts and receives the TGs (talkgroups) in P25 Phase 1 (For interoperability of course).

Both 7100 series Radios have Features 1-40, Firmware is J2R11B01 and DSP is F9R06N05, both Programmed with Programmer R20 for a theory, but I also have RPM 10B.

The P7100 will scan, receive, and unmute on the TGs while the M7100 will be stuck in CC Scan and WA Scan.

Ive tried the M7100 radio on a different P25 system in Oklahoma (OKWIN Tulsa Site) and it was able to recieve and decode the TGs just fine (in P25 Phase 1).

I have tried 2 different antennas and it appears to make no difference.

My M7300s and P7200s will lock onto this site and the appropriate TGs and work flawlessly as well.

I tried programming the radio with RPM (Firmware J2R18H09 and DSP F9R06B05) and via the FCC menu I was able to see the radio lock onto the right site (RFSS ID 3 Site 5) in Enhanced CC with a long list of sites NOT to lock onto but with the correct site as Always Preferred and it did decode a talkgroup ONCE, but it mostly stays in CC Scan and BND Scan.

Ive also tried programming another P25 Phase 2 system manufactured by Harris vice Motorola and it will not follow that one either (Montgomery county P25). Just for testing purposes I tried programming it with the p7100 and although the P7100 will follow the TGs it freezes up and has weird behavior (Mostly because the TGs are broadcast in P25 P2 TDMA). My P7200s will follow the TGs as well but they don't unmute due to lack of option 47 and the firmware (a separate issue).

I would try a EDACS system but they took the closest one to me out of service. It will RX conventional frequencies just fine though.

Is there a setting in RPM or Programmer to make it less sensitive to going into CC Scan? Or is my radio so far out of alignment that it needs servicing? Its possible that I might not be close enough to the tower site but it seems that I have no issues with the other radios. Any guidance is appreciated.

Well that would certainly explain the poor performance. Do you happen to know the specifics of this? I might be able to steal a filter from one of my other parts radios, or I might be able to get one from NLT?
