• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have this posted on Communications.support looking to see if anyone has any insight on this.

Has anyone gotten the PA function to work using direct mode? as referenced in this thread: M7100/Orion Public Address Feature. oddly enough I asked this question 10 years ago... as the help files aren't that helpful.

I have successfully gotten the PA function to work using a Smart Siren (SS2000) and I have also figured out how to utilize the External Speaker function by using a relay, but I would like to use the PA function using "direct mode" utilizing OUTPUT 2 but I can't for the life of me figure out how to pass the PA audio to the speaker itself.

The M7100/Orion series function was easier to figure out, as the PA audio would "pass through" the audio path for the radio's main speaker. I know the CH721 handles audio differently and I am wondering if the ability to use "direct mode" was removed with the upgrade to the XG series radio hardware.
I am using a remote mount setup with a CH-721 and I am using the Options cabling for the 44 pin port on the back but I can utilize any configuration (front mount, remote mount, or HHC731) if necessary.

I'm not sure if the audio is being routed from the CH-721 Head or the 44 pin connection (or both). I know that the setup passes the PA audio to a smart siren (via pins 12 and 13 of the extended options DB-25 connector) if I set it up that way. I am wondering if and how I would tap into that audio line if that is whats necessary.

I set up the External Speaker options as output 2 and "Low" which works for the EXTERNAL SPEAKER function and I am hearing audio go to the speaker i am using, as well as hearing the relay click properly. When I use PA and I Key the mic, the relay clicks and I hear the beep in the speaker but I cannot hear my own voice. I have tried a few different mics to rule that out. I also used output 2 for PA and "low" in the External Speaker options.

Any assistance is much appreciated.

The CH-721 accessory port both connect to a siren, or configure the PA for external speaker and use that.
