I was watching two hours ago...yeah they're still at it. Should be over western U.S. shortly. That's Pacific Time.

The capture was back in February. Practically overhead. I put my mag-mount dual band on the side of car attached to rtl-sdr attached to sdr console. This was on my lunch break. The emissions I saw and heard moved all over, not from doppler. I could only record for a fixed length, and had to start recording again. I'll put a video up at some point. I'll try to host the raw IQ captures, too.

Can anyone point me in the direction of info about when/where the 414.2/417.1 freqs came into play? Or how/when this was discovered they were in use? I used to try pretty hard to pick up comms off of the ISS, but its been a year or two since I was actively pursuing them. They're new to me and if it weren't for so many people talking about it I would have just thought someone was mistaken.

Yes being so old I wonder why no one has cracked it yet. By that I mean the mode, it is possible the voice is encrypted like the telemetry but until proven so I'm hopeful. We could just go back to VHF simplex and let the computer handle the telemetry and control, right, Hal?

"No, Dave."

I suppose because it is such a weak signal, and extremely intermittent, the chance to even grab the signal is hard enough. I think it might be spread spectrum, too.

Icom 2500 in France did the job via Global Tuners. With a discone it was mere seconds but actual Russian voices this time.
Bizarro twist; when I tried receivers in AU and NZ they are locked on an FM music station and an ATIS so a guest can't tune them apparently by law. ????
So, I waited for them to come back to France.

Well, none of the equipment changes I had hoped for happened but with three passes and one of them being at almost 40* for Indy I have no doubt I will hear some solid Russian EVA today. NASA TV is up, event start 1020, my first pass about 1045.

I follow International Space Station, NASA, and ARISS on Twitter. ARISS posts planned outages due to work outside Station.
How far ahead are EVAs announced, and where?
The logistics behind a spacewalk are mindboggling. The last few on the U.S. side have been in the works for years, as they are part of long term Station upgrades. The Russian walks were a bit of emergency work.

If you are a user of ARISS, you know they shut down APRS and the voice repeater during walks and other extra Station movements. It's OK, as they put the action on NASA TV live.
