Is anyone else receiving long, silent key-ups on VHF (155.475) ISPERN? I don't hear or see it on the Chicago Priority TG or the UHF Patch set up by Cook County (UHF Interop 2). It's been driving me crazy, and I ended up locking it out from my scanners for the time being.

Yes, been hearing it on 155.475 today. I presume it's from one of the ISP sites and during one of the key ups, there was an ISPERN broadcast and there was no break in audio or change in signal strength/signature.

I noticed that too, but I don’t know which ISPERN transmitter is causing it.

Just happened around 3:40 PM earlier (8/31). Kept hearing it at my workplace... T3 Dispatcher acknowledged an Open Key on the air. Sounded like a Child talking. Both heard it on Chicago Priority and Cook Interop UHF 2.

I just had ISPERN do that earlier on the Mendon Starcom site 9-4-2025 11:45pm. It was keyed up and sound like someone was talking in the back ground but I could not make out what they were saying.

Was listening to Chicago Priority this past Saturday, on my work Harris portable, man and women talking, sounded like they were on the phone with each other. I could only make out a couple of words. Does it have to do with Chicago Priority being patched to VHF ISPERN, I wonder.

I suspect it does. A lot of it sounds like accidental key ups on the VHF frequency and it is getting blasted out over Priority. It used to happen all the time on VHF ISPERN if you lean on your mobile radio mic in the car or something. Without the patch only the people within range of your radio (and presumably the ISPERN dispatcher) could hear you. When it was just VHF, it was easy to key up on your local dispatch or other frequency and call out the open ISPERN key since you knew there was a good chance it was someone relatively close to you. With it being patched it is getting broadcasted to a much wider area over STARCOM so much harder to figure out who or where it is.

i was under the impression that Troop dispatchers can turn the ISPERN/Priority patch on/off as needed.

I am also under that impression as well. I have definitely heard officers ask for the patch to be activated when they were having problems trying to establish comms between units on VHF and Starcom.
