I was wondering is this antenna any good or not and also if used for close call scanning say in close call only mode will it help?

I didn't see any specifications on the antenna's length or design, so my opinion is based only on the photos. It looks like a magnet mount Chinesium 1/4 VHF antenna, maybe about 19"-20" long.

It will probably be fine for general scanning. It's a little too short for VHF Low Band, but will be adequate in areas of good signal strength.

Since it's designed to be mounted outside a vehicle, expect better overall performance, especially on close call, than a rubber duckie antenna used inside a vehicle.

If your primary interest is a specific band, you would do better with a gain antenna for that band on an NMO Larsen magnetic mount.

I use a 18" NMO (VHF 1/4 wave) antenna on a Larsen NMO magnetic mount on one of my vehicles connected to either a 325P2 or AT125 scanner.

Sold a lot of places. Weak point--the cable is RG-174 or similar. Every antenna I have had using that cable has eventually failed at one end (usually the ground shield breaking away from the connector).

That antenna does not appear to have an NMO base. If you might decide to change the antenna itself at some point in the future, I would strongly suggest getting an NMO base and a matching NMO antenna. NMO offers a better selection of antennas, and they are likely to be better quality as well.

It is a basic antenna. I had one years ago. I eventually went to NMO. I liked it for one reason, I don't know how to solder well. If I am not mistaken, it uses 58U, not 58AU coax. I prefer the former since BNC twist-on replacements work.
