Does anyone know what the Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) Giant Voice frequency is?

I seem to remember a while back stumbling across it making a test announcement in the 406-420 MHz band but I never wrote it down.

Anyone know or remember what it is?

Giant voice is the military version of the Civil Defense sires/EAS. Most bases have it. Can also be used as a general purpose PA. Test . Try scanning 138.00 mhz to 144.000 mhz 148.000 mhz to 150.800 mhz 406.000 mhz to 420.000 mhz in FM mode. Taps is at 10:00 PM.

Let's see what I can pull out of my hat, uh database. ;) Give the following a try (I have no field reports so nothing guaranteed)
Fort Sam Houston 413,225
Lackland 148.8625 and/or 165.1625 and/or 173.4375 (Can't say whether Lackland or Kelly as those lines have blurred now)
Randolph 141.1875 (as I indicated above)

If you get anything on FSH, Lackland or Kelly would appreciate throeing it back this way so I can update things.

Thanks for asking and good hunting.

For several years I have heard frequent, short transmissions of data on 148.8625 with my scanner located on the southside of downtown San Antonio.

Would any of these work for NAS JRB in Fort Worth. Would it be able to hear the Taps at night as well?

You would have to program all the listed frequencies in this thread and figure it out yourself. They could be using frequencies that aren't listed anywhere.

If NASFWJRB is using the same type of system as Sheppard AFB then you won't hear anything but data bursts and occasional voice announcements. When it's time for bugle calls and the national anthem the system sends data bursts to the sirens that cause them to play sound files.

Ah, one of my favorite bases. I loved watching the B52s takeoff from that base back in the 80s when I was stationed at NAS Dallas. To answer your question give 139.0125 MHz a try. It is the only one for them I am aware of.
