I did see them listed under Jefferson County and did see listings for security. However does anyone know what the schools themselves use for communication? I.E. campus security etc? If so anyone know schools, frequencies etc?

Thanks

I think the individual schools could use either VHF or UHF simplex on campus. My high school in Jeffco used 154.600 and 154.57 when I was there (over 10 years ago). They actually had a license, believe it or not! Any of the VHF/UHF itenerant frequencies like these or 464.500, 464.550, or 151.625 would be good to try.

I know some schools in Jeffco have their own UHF simplex frequency licensed to them. Arvada HS has been licensed on 466.6875 for years. I haven't verified that they use it, though.

The old Jeffco Schools security repeater (before they went DTRS) on 461.925 with a 131.8 tone had a little bit of maintenance activity on it, last I checked. I have heard several schools using 461.925 simplex with different PL's, so this would be a good one to try, as well.

Thanks for the info.... It's a start and I'll see if I can dig up some more.

Dont feel bad about long ago you were last at school, tbiggums, I graduated Brighton High Class of 1995, (14 years ago!) I do remember the principals and janitors sported Maxon portables that looked like gray bricks on a belt clip.

BHS operated over 154.5400, and the portables were programmed to talk to School Dist 27J Bus Barn over 151.7150-KVB 514, both simplex. I do believe BHS was licensed but I don't remember the call sign.

I think 27J is long gone from VHF-Hi, when I was last out there the tower was still up at the bus barn near 4th and Jessup St, but the Channelmaster antenna was gone and a yagi was attached to the tower, aimed towards the southwest.
