MORRISON, Colo. -- A Littleton man was killed early Monday when the car he was driving hit and tree and flipped on a road adjacent to U.S. Highway 285 near its junction with C-470.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, Brian Fee, 45, was driving a 1997 BMW 528i on Turkey Creek Rd., when it hit and tree and rolled over, landing on a its top at about 6 a.m. The impact caused a fire that ignited brush along the roadway, next to the northbound lanes of Highway 285.
Fee was pronounced dead at the accident location.
The cause of the crash is under investigation but troopers said speed appeared to have been a factor.
Rescuers had to close the right-hand land of northbound 285 to get to the car and traffic was backed up for more than a mile.
