Yesterday the Joplin TRS,
Joplin Public Safety (P25) Trunking System, Joplin, Missouri - Scanner Frequencies
added a 2nd site.

Only Control channel is bring used, probably while they work on it. The Control channel is 855.9625, and voice channels are reported as 856.9875, 857.9875 and 859.9875. (NOTE 858.9875 which is on the license is not yet showing in the channel list per Pro96com).

855.9625 had previously been observed with a dead carrier and 136.5 CTCSS, probably just "keeping" the frequency.

Locations on the license are a two-way tower on W 13h St (per lat/lon) and in Neosho, which would be odd as there seems to be no need for coverage that far south. Pro96com reports the few requests to affiliate with Talkgroups are being denied. Yet to be determined is if this will be a stand-alone IR site or perhaps part of a simo.

Call sign per data stream is WPCJ396, replacing the canceled WPCJ396.

Let's keep looking and figure out before we submit to database.

I don't see 858.9875 on the license. And I believe this new second site is location 3 on the license, which would put it between Neosho and Joplin.

Very odd.
I am using Pro96Com is shows many attempts at affiliation from several units, all denied, except for one RID 2000 which I assume is a console or some such. So, in essence, it is not is use tho chugging along with the control channel data.
In the meanwhile, there has been some activity on TG 3 which is not in the database, all encrypted using only 857.9875. I am going to wait a bit until it gets into use before I send to the database.

This site 2 DOES show site 1 as an adjacent and visa versa.

Update on site 2. Using Pro96com I now see that many radios are requesting to affiliate, but are denied. However, the site is allowing Fire Dept RIDs and Talkgroups to be used. So far it acts like it is only a site for use by Fire Department.
More to come.

Well here is what I am sending to the database. Site 2 with a control channel of 855.9625 is located off Goldfinch Road about 3 miles due south of 32nd & Rangeline on a hill, in Newton County. It is about 8 miles SE of the main location #1 on the west side of the city.

It rejects affiliation requests for Joplin "city type" TG's, for example, the bus service, PD patrol and record checks, med dispatch, street department, etc,

It allows affiliation with Newton County Central Dispatch, All-Call Dispatch, Fire dispatch, etc. When it allows affiliation the same TG is heard on both sites.

To get the full benefit of the system, you need to put both control channels in your scanner.

Wally,

While we're on the topic of Joplin, could you please confirm a couple of things: #1-is 303 the correct dispatch group for METS and #2-is Joplin PD still running full-time encryption on their primary dispatch channels or have those gone back to clear? I've been tasked to program an XTL radio for someone who is close to that area (a legitimate public safety official). I've heard conflicting information about the current status of JPD's encryption use. I'd like to figure all of that out before I obtain his equipment and start programming.

Really appreciate your updates you've provided thus far. Thank You!

Hello!

303 is METS, and a;; the TGs with the E instead of D are encrypted. Sounds like aliens. Others are Encrypted, such as TG 103 Patrol 1, the SWATs, etc. Very little PD in the clear.on the TRS.

There was some confusion of whether or not the PD entries in the RRDB were 100% accurate.
Thanks for the clarification!
