I plan on a direct R71 vs R75 comparison. Need a good antenna splitter. Thinking of doing stereo left vs right audio comparison on the video. Gotta cobble up audio cables for that.

I'm looking forward to that, too. If I can't repair my R-71a, then I might want an R-75.

Okay. That 'wired for 220' angle sure sounded plausible, but nope. It's wired for 110 vac. Connections look sketchy, so I'll clean 'em up and go from there.

Good to see it all worked out. The "workmanship" on that jumper was pretty sad, but I've had scanners given to me to fix that had worse.

This ought to be interesting, since I use both my r71a and r75 on a daily basis and have a real time comparison every day-I'm looking forward to what you come up with there:)
Here, there are a couple attributes the r75 has that the 71 doesn't, and viseversa!

My personal R-71a issue is now moot. I just bought an IC-751a. :)

$300 + $95 shipping. Not a blue light special, but it works 100% and you can't beat that, plus it's an "E", which I think is cool, and a neat story behind it coming from the Chinese govt.

It has the 2.3khz narrow SSB filter.

I will post my impressions on the transceiver in a new thread when I have it.

As for the Chinese R71 questions, all of the answers are on eBay.
