It seems like almost every new car has a shark fin antenna or a GPS puck mounted on the roof. Guess what's underneath them: a hole! Does it matter if it's a factory or aftermarket hole?

My new truck had 37 miles on it. I litterly drove home from the dealer and dropped the headliner. I removed the entire interior for 2 weeks to do my installs. First thing I do is get antenna mounts in the roof.

I have those thoughts every time I see a new vehicle.

Yeah my 2009 accord had a leak in right front roof joint that ruined the headboard, patched up the leak and drilled away! Never put the headboard back in.

Now I have 3/4 and 3/8 NMO mounts. The roof is flimsy though, and a shovel got spun way up in the air on the interstate and landed squarely on left back seat roof area, so I may reinforce it and add a luggage rack or some type of antenna mast to it.

Drilling is in my plans today. Apparently no one who owns a Kia Forte has ever done this or at least never documented it, but I'm using the tried and true, drop the lamp and look for cross members. And I got a cheap-o fishing kit from Harbor Freight, so pretty close to action time.
