Myself, I have done that with a Wilson 800 MHz yagi pointed at a tower 0.8 miles that I can actually see with my eyes. The Whistler still does not do very well copying the P25 on that tower.

I should claify that although I copy it satisfactorily, it is minimally so.

All this is exactly why I purchased a Relm BK radio. Yes it was expensive, but less than 1/2 the price of a MOTO and programs receive only. No system keys required. Works like nothing else I have ever owned including my G4 pager. I loved it so much, I bought a second one. We can all ***** and whine about the scanner manufactures, but I don't see them solving the LSM issue. They have had years and years to do this and nothing. !!

How many talk groups at a time can the KNG2 scan and is there a scan delay setting that you can program? Does Phase 2 cost extra?

Because they have specialized demodulating circuitry that contributes significantly to their $1500-4500 per unit price tag.

Nope. Real subscriber radios contain receivers AND transmitters. That transmitter part can be costly.

I cant remember the exact number, but its a lot. Yes it has a scan delay and you can hold on a TG. Go to Relm's website for all the details. And yes the transmit section of the radio is at least 1/2 the cost.
I guess all this depends on how bad you want to hear your system and what your willing to spend to do that. Phase II does cost extra. P25 trunking costs extra. The bare radio is a conventional P25 transceiver.

If it is any consolation for you Homeboys-Scanna.
The city I live in went to a P25 Phase II multiple site system and the sound quality is poor from the scanner and even their commercial radios which I have inquired and personally heard from their radios.
