BC75XLT: Just static from LAPD dispatch?

I'm from LA and while trying to listen to dispatch on my BC75XLT all I get is static. However, an app I installed on my phone gets the transmissions. At the same time my scanner app on my phone gets legible content, my BC75XLT gets only static. Is it the antennae? I'm trying to listen from Vermont and Manchester. If you're from LA you know that's as close the center of action as you can get. So I'm not trying to listen from up on the mountains or from another county. Thanks for any suggestions you may have. Please don't answer if you don't know. I prefer an answer from someone that knows what they're talking about.

LAPD is digital. You cannot listen to LAPD with that analog scanner.

That was it. I got myself a digital scanner and now I get reception. It's the BCD436HP.
