I couldn't find a specfic place for videography, so I thought I might ask here. This nice little Christmas gift is no longer playing compact cassettes. I don't know if it is the camera, or the cassettes that won't work. If it doesn't work out, I can run it into another digital device that may record directly from this camera. It doesn't seem to eat the tapes, ant the videos seems to be more stuck, than paused. Noting inside seems to be broken or missing. Any ideas?

You're going to encounter problems like these on any camera with moving parts, especially VHS-C camcorders. I've had a much better experience with the tape mechanisms of newer camcorder formats like miniDV. If you must keep a hold of that camera, send it in to be serviced. But, I recommend upgrading to a digital camera. Nowadays they're cheap and shoot great. Just back up your data.
