I started a Playlist series for my videos in the K180-WLA Antenna. I have a few that show it head to head against my
MLA-30+ Antenna. The results were interesting.

You're comparing apples to oranges. The K180 is an active loop made to cover HF; a discone, while it will cover HF, isn't very efficient as it's main purpose is to cover VHF and up. A discone will be sensitive to noise issues; an active loop will reject many noise sources. In addition a loop like this can null out signals on MW and LW, making it useful when you are wandering around a graveyard channel that has lots of stations on the same frequency. A discone can't do this.

Comparisons like this are, frankly, a waste of time

Thanks for this. I hadn't checked into it yet. 🤙🏻

A nice comparison of two active loop antennas. I have a discone, mainly for 100 to 950 MHz. Hard to beat at those frequencies.
I tried the HF stinger on top, tuned mainly for 6 meters. It worked, poorly. and didn't help the upper frequencies any.
I put a 6 meter base loaded antenna on a MagMount, stuck to the AC unit. Now that way outperformed the junk on top of my discone.
Really, for LF, MF, HF, that active loop is a worthy way to go if lacking real estate for full up antennas.

And so many of us are in the same boat, condo nazis not withstanding. The 180 is an inexpensive intro to this world and worth it

Yep, I live in a condo so choices are limited.🤙🏻
