It's a modest shack, I'm sure, but I'm happy to show it off.

There's several photos, so instead of embedding them here, I will just provide direct links to the pictures, if that's alright.

Mobile installation:

Yaesu FT-7800
Maxon SM4450 (for GMRS)
Uniden BC796D
Cobra 148 NW ST

A view from the side, to show the mount that I built to hold the radios.

Top view:

Prerequisite night view:

behind the seat, showing off the speakers for the CB and scanner. also seen is the rat shack project box in which i connected all the wiring and relay switch. Barely visible at the bottom is the Yaesu mobile mount, using a homebrew separation kit. Not shown is the external speaker for the Yaesu; I mounted it in the window of the "rear door" of my 99 ranger, right next to my ear

final photo for the mobile shack, my antennas:

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e307/r4zl_d4zl/mobileants.jpg

a Wilson 1000
Larsen NMO 2/70SH
AOR MA500
Comtelco A1845-50
sorry for the quality of that picture, i should have tried a different angle

And now for my home shack. It's not much to look at, but it gets the job done. Sometime in the future I'm going to rearrange things, get a new desk, and expand my radios.

Equipment seen:

iMac 1 Ghz G4
Grundig Satellit 800
Realistic HTX-202 (needs new battery/charger)
Icom IC-T2H
Uniden SC150B (for back-up scanning when things get hectic)
Uniden BC250D (also for back-up)
Audiovox FR-1438 (cradle charger's wall-wart whereabouts unknown)
Uniden BC780XLT (for Mil-Air)
Uniden BC796D (everything else)
Yaesu FT-7800
MFJ-862 SWR meter
Uniden PC76XL (not in current use)
Diamond GVZ4000 power supply

Not shown: Motorola MV11C (two)
Motorola MV24CVS
Archer Space Patrol 60-4015
Maxon SMP-4000 (for programming the SM4450)
CDV-717 (needs service)

a closer view of the stack, if you look hard enough, you'll see all the maps i have in stock:

and finally, the night shot:

I didn't take a picture of them but here are the roof-mounted antennas I am currently using:

Diamond D-130J (BC796D)
Diamond X200A (FT-7800)
approx. 100 feet of 450 Ohm ladder line (Satellit 800)
DPD Productions MilTenna (BC780XLT)

Well, that's it folks. Thank you for looking. Feel free to provide comments and if you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them.

LOL dig the Neon Genesis poster! I havent seen that one in a long time. And I am glad to know what the Cobra 148 NW ST looks like with night watch on, I do belive I will have to get that one or something with at least night watch.
Very sweet set-up all that in a ranger.

Very nice job. You know, i've seen better home shacks as far as appearance, but in almost every case everything was so 'neat' and 'tucked away' that it was literally useless for any person serious in the monitoring hobby. They had all the toys and it all looked perty, but it wasn't going to do the job conveniently with the way they had it set up.

Yours, on the other hand, has everything within an arms reach or less (for easy tuning/volume adjusting/etc) _and_ you have all the right stuff. So I'd say I rate it in the 95th percentile :)

Mobile is nice too - looks like it should, used often by a busy individual who probably does a bit of hard work.

thank you for the kind comments, everyone. when i get some credit paid off and save some money up, i'll start to look at buying a Kenwood TS-2000, a tower with a beam, and probably a 6-M rig for the truck.

who probably does a bit of hard work.

you can tell? :D
