• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello All, Let me start by saying that I AM NOT looking for a serial or product number to be able to obtain Kenwood Software, I already have that and have the software installed and have been using it for about 3 years now. The issue I'm having is that I got a new computer because the hard drive in my current one is failing, I have read that with the new Kenwood KPG D6N software that you can only have it on one PC at a time, which is understandable. What I need to know is if there is way to transfer it from the old one to the new one. I read something about how you could deregister it off the old one and reregister it on the new one, I tried that, however it still didn't work. I might have did it to quickly as I tried it instantly, Does anybody know how to successfully transfer already legally purchased software over to a new PC or had any success in doing so? I'm hoping there is a way without having repurchase it.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.
Brian

What version of KPT-300LMC are you using? They updated their servers a while back and you -must- use the latest version. I think it's 2.01 or something like that.

Do I need to unregister the old PC from the license and add the new one, or will it allow me to add them both. I have the serial number, I just wanted to make sure I did the transfer process correctly.

Yes I have done that several times.
Do you still have all your key files saved?
If so unregister the old PC
Install all the software starting with KPT-300LMC then install the KPG D6N then drag and drop the key file then move all of your saved files you will good to go.

I do have the key files saved. I'll uninstall the software from the new one and start from scratch to make sure it's done correctly.

I appreciate everyone's help.
