• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi all, new here!

I purchased a couple of TK-3140 radios. My goal was to use them in conventional format. When I do, no matter what channel is selected, the radio always reverts back to channel 1.

I grabbed the same radio from work that is programmed in conventional format, snatched the programming and reprogrammed my radio with the same program. Same thing, continuously reverts back to channel 1.

The radio does not do this in LTR mode.

Is this a firmware problem?

Why does everyone stealth around with emails and PM's? Can't you leave it out on the forum so we all learn?

So I'm a little confused. Is this revert to channel one during scan or what? Please explain.

VIA TAPATALK

No, not during scan. I have around 50 channels programmed into the radio. So, if I decide I want the radio on channel 25, I rotate the dial on top of the radio to channel 25. The display says CHAN 25 for about one second, then reverts to CHAN1 and stays there. Wash, Rinse and Repeat.Hope this helps

Sounds like it may have been programmed in trunking mode, a Kenwood of mine did the exact same thing. Couldn't figure it out, until we looked at the laptop screen, and saw those oh-so important letters: LTR.

I hope this helps. If this is the case, unfortunately you won't be and to cut and paste (at least I wasn't able to). You'll have to program it aaaaallllllllllll over again.

Best of luck.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, that is not the case. This does this while in conventional mode. Funny thing is, I'm using them in trunking mode so they don't do the problem.

I recently acqiured a 3140 that is doing the same thing. I have also noted that I cannot access any repeaters programmed but simplex seems to work ok. I used the same programming file I have used on my other 3140 and it does this. What is the issue and how do I resolve it? I have the software and cable to fix anything that my be software related.

I never did find a cure for this. I just programmed the two radios in trunking mode and they work just fine. Sorry if this didn't help!

Sometimes a corrupt programming file can cause issues like this. Have you tried making a different file with say 2 channels in it and see if it does the same thing. It has to be a new file though, you can't just delete the extra channels you have in.
