• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello, just recieved my KFDMicro today. I have many USB-C cables lying around. I have tried multiple and KFDTool won't notice it in devices. If it matters it's V1.5.0. I tried installing drivers for a cable but it still won't recognize it. Thanks.

if it's the original Duggerd KFD software, which stopped at 1.5, it won't wotk. At all. Different hardware.

Get the current OCS software build (like it says on their site) from their github.

Thank you. It says I need to flash the firmware. To do that I need an arduino which I don't have. It also says to use KFDToolGui.exe which I can't seem to find. GitHub - omahacommsys/KFDtool: Open Source P25 KFD (Key Fill Device/Keyloader/KVL)

I just tried KFDWeb but it says "Unsupported device type," even though it says it works with KFDMicro. Maybe it is the firmware version? Do you know if the KFDMicros come with a FW above V1.4.0? I am using a USB-C to USB-C cable. Tried Win10 and 11.

If you just bought your device, Axel is pretty dilligent about firmware being current on shipping devices. Might reach out and ask. Where exactly are you seeing this message if you don't have the proper executable file? In 1.50? Again, that will not work. Ever.

As far as the current version software.. KDFToolGui is the main executable which runs the software. Did you download it from GitHub?

On the landing page, there is on the right, about halfway down this item.

Screenshot.png
Click on Latest.

It will open this page. 1.8.8 is the latest version, with updates for new loaders and some fixes (thanks Ilya!).

Screenshot 1.png

Click on the zip file, it will download to your computer.
Double click on the file you downloaded, it will unzip the file into a directory.
Go to the unzipped directory, it will look like this:

dir.png

Plug your device in, and make note of which COM port is uses and you will need to tell it where to look.
When you double click KFDToolGui.exe to run, it will throw an error the first time as it doesn't now where the device is yet.
