If anyone along the upper mid-west is monitoring there Radios right now should be picking up some killer Skip. This has been going on for the past 6 hours or more now. I have been picking up tons of skip on the BNSF and the UP. This is just nuts.

I agree...these last two mornings have had the best dx'ing i've heard in over a year. Am receiving several PD and Fire frequencies from 250-300 miles away. And this is with an indoor antenna. Using a 996xt with a portable 2m whip. Have fun...back to programming all these new channels in that I'd though I'd never hear...lol...

It's the best thing about those muggy summer mornings! This time of year, I try to leave for work a little early so I can spend some time on top of a very high hill along the way and see what I can pick up. Sometimes it's just astonishing.

I've got my good ole PRO-43 with a RH77CA antenna and I'm picking up locomotives 40 miles from my house!! Pretty awesome!! Wish it would last.

This morning in Terre Haute I *clearly* heard a dispatcher giving train #335 a track warrant on the "Lincoln Sub" on 161.475 (AAR91). Where? What railroad? By the time I could grab my notebook and write it down, I'd missed the location, though it was something like "CP Pratt".

I also picked up both sides of conversations between trains and the dispatcher at Mattoon on the IC, and Villa Grove on the UP. In fact the UP dispatcher was full scale.

Gotta love "summer skip"
