After wanting to get back into general listening, and needing something easy to set up for an antenna, I remembered that I had one of these packed away in the closet. Found it, dusted it off, replaced the 9 volt battery, and plugged it into my radio...and was totally amazed at what it could do. The loop consists of 8 turns of wire...about 12" diameter...that can be DIP switched together to cover 3 different configurations. There's a tunable preamp inside the box...can't remember if there's a preselector or not. The results are excellent for general coverage. Highly recommended if you spot one for sale somewhere.

Getting something outside away from the house is always better; but in its day, that Kiwa loop was highly regarded. Sadly the company isn't making these anymore...Milke

I'm an apartment dweller and mostly have limited antenna space out on the fire escape. So having a SW antenna that works so well indoors is a big plus. If anyone sees one, they're worth grabbing.

I had both the Kiwa Pocket Loop and the big Kiwa MW Loop for many years. They were simply fantastic antennas and I was thrilled to be able to use them. The Pocket Loop was very effective as well as fun to setup and use, the DIP switching feature was novel and since I love lots of buttons, switches and knobs in my radio-ing madness it was a very good match for me! I sold them about ten years back to some very deserving radio fanatics who still use them daily, and occasionally I ask to briefly use one or the other (it was a condition of sale that I could borrow them once in a great while ;)). The MW loop is a beautiful beast, worth its own posts and stories of MWing victories. Man, Kiwa made some excellent products. Lucky you still having your Pocket Loop in such great condition. Have fun!

I just found this post, dug up Craig’s original one. Sad to say he passed away 1.5 years ago. Gonna get this one going. I have to find a set of decent spacers for the wire loop..
