Recently had a friend move to Galesburg and cant for the life of me get SDRTrunk to pick up the Knox county tower on SDRTrunk. For reference we have about 30 of these setup in Minnesota to listen to various counties so i know its not a hardware issue as I'm well versed with the hardware and how they setup and work in Minnesota but with how the P25 system works in Illinois is there something I'm missing? it looks like its a Phase 2 system running on Phase 1 channels. I partially think she is too far away from the tower. Shes 7 miles from the tower we might try putting an antenna outside and see if that picks it up.

There is a tower south east of Monmouth which is the county seat in Warren County but is only about 12 miles west of Galesburg. The Gilson/knox County site is east of Knoxville on US 150. Both sites use omni directional antennas with good height over the ground on guyed towers. There could be terrain blocking the site to the location of your SDR.
Here is a link to a line of sight tool for determining RF line of sight between to locations. You plot the location of the receiver and antenna height then plot the transmitter location and height of the tower/site.

Here are the coordinates for the Warren County site. The address is listed as 925 180th Ave, Monmouth, Illinois. The Tower antenna is listed as 400’.
Gilson, Knox County site coordinates, address listed is 1458 US-150 E (Gilson), The Tower antenna is listed as 350’.
You might double check all the frequencies you’ve tried there could have been a change in the control channel or there might be a typo in the information in the database. I’m to far away to confirm the correct frequencies.
