• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I read a TK5320K and programmed 2 new ones. Both have a continuous "beep-beep-beep-beep"
when they are on. They both pass self test and the batteries are charges. The radios read
out correct information.

What am I overlooking?

On a related note, how can I remove the channel knob stop that limits it to 16 channels
without destroying it? I want to add some extra channels but stick with 1 bank.

OK I solved the initial problem - Turns out that the radio that I read was the 400-470 version (guy who sold it to them was a ham) and the radios they have now are 450-512. Is there a way to copy the zone info so I don't have to re-enter it? Simply changing the frequency in the product info tab clears out all of the frequency info.

You should be able to open the file, then go up to the "Model" and click on "Product Information". You should be able to change the Frequency Range from 400-470MHz to 450-512MHz.

That will throw an error about some of the settings, but it's OK.
Note: This won't make a low split radio suddenly work as a high split radio, or vice versa. You are still limited by the radio.

I was just about to comment back with your solution which you already figured out. I ran into this recently myself on accident and had the exact same problem on an NX-5800. I believe you can use a spreadsheet to do so but one of the other pros on here can probably answer that better than I can.

I tried that. I pops up a box saying that the configuration data for frequency will be cleared. If you say OK it clears all
of the channel data. If you say cancel it does nothing.

That and the fact that the model doesn't support zone merge where you can save a file of the merge or any type of export/import function.
In other words you are SOL. Start typing.

Fortunately you can open 2 instances of the software. If you change models only the channels are cleared so I brought the old and new up side by side and just started typing.
