• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

All,
I am trying to remove a license for KPG-D1N in the KPT-300LMC tool. I was able to do this once before and move the license to the current computer, however I will again be replacing this computer with a different one and I am getting an error message that says "Cancellation Failed." I contacted KW and they had me update the LMC, which was not a success. Everything appears to be working, the server connection even says "fine."

The current computer does have something corrupted in the NET Framework from an update that went wrong which is why I need to remove the license and reinstall windows. I want to make sure I will be able to reuse this software after reinstalling windows.

Anyone have any ideas?

Did you reinstall LMC?
What License do you have? Wide or Narrow?
Narrow can be recovered.

I have also seen this with poor internet connections also. You could try to reinstall .net also. The main thing is, if it is a wide band you want to try at all cost to get it back into the vault. First and foremost, get your Machine ID and write it down or save it, that will help in the recovery. before you do a windows reset.
Keep us posted.

It is narrow. I have uninstalled an reinstalled both the KPG-D1N and KPT-300. Both are latest versions. Long story about the .net, but only option is to reinstall windows.

make a note of your machine ID (setup/general/device id)
Find the original email with your software key, paste your machine ID (old) and new ID after rebuild, if it changed.
Then the dealer you bought it from, email them with the ID and the KEY, and have them email Kenwood Tech Support with said email,
This will help refresh your key and you will be able to reuse it again.
I tell this to everyone who I sell a key to.
The ONLY key they will not refresh is Wide Band.

Hope this helps.

Infant I got new OS installed last night. I reinstalled both the D1N and licensing software. All validated and seem to be working. Thanks for the help!

So did it appear that it only claimed to have failed deactivation? When activating on the new system you have no problems? Or did you have to contact your purchasing dealer/kenwood?

The device ID never changed so once the LMC connected and sorted out it’s issues, I attempted to validate the same license which “failed” because it was already active. Then I went back to D1N and it worked.
