Interesting to listen this week to LACoFD, many agencies spreading their units around to work in a stepped up system.
Curious how other city units like being spread out in other neighborhoods...

A brother died in the line of duty. They have no problem with it. Many probably volunteered for the duty.

Not a big difference for most of them. I think the hardest thing would be getting familiar with the area, knowing short cuts, which streets to avoid because of heavy traffic. Then again some of the guys might live in the areas they are covering too.
