I am monitoring saianet system Lancaster site . tonight and hearing Lancaster pd not encrypted on talk group 511401 But the normal dmr channel is still encrypted ? Not sure if they are testing or what
Hopefully not. I would think they would have had the radios encrypted when they went live. I assume if they go encrypted now all the radios have to be re-programmed.I hope so I am just surprised that they wouldn’t go back to full time encryption
Who knows, maybe they had issues with their DMR setup and it was more cost effective to switch. This past year Lackawanna and West Seneca police both switched to saianet. Depew was playing on the system last year. It seems to be a good system for the towns/villages plus provides better coverage probably for them. I hope they just stay on saianet as is because it seems to be working good. It would be nice if cheektowaga police/fire upgraded to a digital radio as well.I don’t understand why they are on saianet tho because they have there own dmr system
Console to subscriber, complete warrenty, additional resources, interoperability, high availability, public safety reliability, pretty much sells itself.Saia has been pretty aggressive in pushing this system, so it's no surprise to see more and more public safety agencies switching to it, regardless of whatever resources of their own they had in place. There are a number of reasons why an agency might switch to a wide-area system like SaiaNet, despite there being an existing repeater or system already in place for said agency. Sometimes the reason is as simple as effective salesmanship! 👀
Or you can just enjoy listening to them again instead of continuing to mention the lack of encryption.I am just kind of shocked that they didn’t go encrypted because on their normal DMR channel it’s full-time encrypted
Why would Cheektowaga choose to convert to digital, with their existing system performing so well?Who knows, maybe they had issues with their DMR setup and it was more cost effective to switch. Not after spending what they spent 😉🤑"Console to subscriber, complete warranty, additional resources, interoperability, high availability, public safety reliability, pretty much sells itself."
