I know LAPD has had thier 8000’s since around 2019 (?) ish. I’ve noticed the LAPD School Police are now switching to the NEXT from thier old 5000’s ( still can’t believe 5000’s are still being used everyday by some departments but I guess if it works for them and they are all in working shape - why not ? ).

Anyone know if LAPD are going NEXT anytime soon ?

Well just for note, LASPD (Los Angeles School Police) is not LAPD. But about time they upgraded a bit.

In terms of LAPD, I don’t see why they would upgrade being on 8000’s currently. There is really no reason especially since they are not even running trunked yet. Would be a colossal waste of money.

If 5000's being in service bother you, we're still using 2500's at work (on the way out), and I personally know of agencies using HT1000/MT2000/MTS2000 series portables, and ASTRO Spectra mobiles. It's all still out there. As long as batteries are being made...

Wow ! I haven’t seen a Jedi radio in PS use in YEARS. Goes to show the testament of those radios. I still have many Jedi radios in my collection and they all work great. Use them for GMRS and they way outperform the BaoTurds everyone knows and loves.
