LASO stream beep

Hi I am listening to the Los Angeles sheriff on teamspeak for the first time and it seems that a beep, beep, beep. comes up after dispatch talks everyonce in a while. What is that for? it gets annoying after a while. Thanks -Louie-

That's how the designate that a unit is talking on the input, since the other units can't hear each other (inputs are not repeated across the output). If you do a search I know it's been discussed here before.

And here I thought they did that back when they were on low band just to allow those of us listening to skip to know when we were picking up the LASO without having to look at the scanner! During the 1980 sunspot maximum I was picking up the mobile frequency as well, from west central New Mexico. The LASO beep, beep was my first clue that skip was going to be from the west. Eastern skip was announced with the accent of the dispatchers.
