Dear Database Admins,

The "Last 20 FCC License Grants" listings do not seem to be staying current. This would be at the bottom of the County-specific links in a State's Database area.

Here are a few examples in California:
Alameda County (latest is 3-15-06)
Sacramento County (latest is 3-20-06)
San Diego County (latest is 3-20-06)
Kern County (latest is 3-23-06)

I see the same issue in Nevada with the same general timeframe (Clark County, at least - didn't check others).

Is this a known issue? If so, what's the scoop? If not, now you know.

Thanks!

Have you checked directly at the FCC website to see if there's actually any new grants since then?

FCC updates don't happen on a daily basis, so I'm sure that's why it's not updated here either.

We have counties in our state that haven't got an update since November 2005....

Yes. There are many, especially in the metro counties of California. There are usually several per day in those counties.

The FCC updates its on-line info every business day during the overnight processing procedure. A daily download file is available after that procedure is complete.

See Lindsay's reply - it's a manual download process for RR.

I understand the FCC processing and updating any kind of licensees changes or modifications on a daily business day basis but I just did a search for "NEW" grants (brand new issued licenses), which is what I thought RR provided updates on and I couldn't find any for the past month or so.

Maybe I'm missing something, I welcome any enlightment. ;)

Where were you searching? In the FCC ULS or on RR? What geographical area did you look for?

At the FCC ULS. I actually found about 19 licenses under PW designation for the past month but they were mostly amendments or modifications to recently NEW grants, not exactly brand spankin' new licenses. So maybe I'm looking in too deep or something....

I guess a better question would be, how or what "parameter" is rr.com using to update their database? Is it grant date, last action date or what?

As far as the FCC is concered, license grants do not just refer to new licenses. Modifications are also "granted".

In the RR display for the 20 latest grants, I have seen both new and modified license info show up.

There really isn't any difference between a brand new license and the same parameters being added to an existing license as mods. They both could indicate brand new systems or operations. Far too much would be missed if only "new" grants were seen.

OK, I see your point and that also answers my question, thanks.
