Just took delivery of a SDS200 from bearcat warehouse. This thing is awesome and its doing an excellent job at picking up everything i want to hear. One question i had though is, does it hurt to leave the display on all the time? By default it seemed to go out after a minute or 2 of not pushing any buttons or no radio transmissions. I changed it to infinite but not sure if it hurts to leave it lit up all the time or should i turn it off when im not near the scanner. I leave it on pretty much 24/7 but only am sitting near it for an hour or 2 a day. Do most people leave it lit up or turn the display off?

The displays on my SDS100, as well as my SDS200, have been on full time since I purchased them right after they first came out. No dimness or fading in either one.

I usually monitor 3 different systems on the 200 and my display is on infinite. On the handhelds I usually set the displays to only come on when catching a TG to conserve some battery power. You should be fine with infinite setting on the 200.

I have not had any issues with the display on my 100 or 200 staying on all the time. With my 200, I'll sometimes dim or turn the display off completely so it doesn't blind me in a dark room, but other than that, it is personal preference with no impact on the radio itself.
