I have a couple of questions regarding LIRR frequencies that hopefully someone can answer.

1. When I lived in the NYC area and monitored the LIRR, there were 2 "primary" road channels. 160.38 for all lines except for the 2 branches (Port Jefferson and Main Line-Ronkonkoma) east of Divide Tower where 161.265 was used. Several websites list 160.62 as the Montauk Branch frequency. Can someone confirm use of this frequency and if used, between what points.

2. On the Central Branch (assuming it's still referred to by that name), I assume an eastbound train diverging from the Main Line-Ronkonkoma Branch at Bethpage would use 161.265 until reaching the Babylon Branch and change to 160.38. Is this true and if so, where is the designated changeover point and does the answer to question #1 above have any effect?

Thanks for your assistance!!

Update

I'm surprised no one was able to provide an answer to my question. On a recent visit to NYC, I posed my question to a LIRR engneer. His response was that channel 1 (160.38) is used throughout the system except on the Port Jefferson & Ronkonkoma brances east of Divide Tower (Hicksville). Channel 3 (161.265) is used on those branches. Channel 1 is used on the Central branch east of Bethpage. The entry in the database that 160.26 is used on the Montauk branch is incorrect; channel 1 is used. Also channel 3 is used at the West Side yard in Manhattan.

Hey,

I can't seem to find a database entry linking 160.26 to MTK, could you provide a link to where you see this?

Thanks!
