By Union Fire Company No. 1 July 3, 2010 5-7 Box Alarm

At 13:19 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1 was alerted to assist Lancaster County Station 5-7 (Quarryville FC) as part of the second alarm assignment on a working building fire in the 1600 block of Robert Fulton Highway in Little Britain Township.

Engine 5-13-1 was the first unit to arrive after clearing a previous incident. The crew went on location with heavy fire from a wood shop, with multiple exposures. Soon after, Engine 5-7-4 arrived and their crew began attacking the fire of the main structure. Multiple handlines were placed in service and dual 4-inch supply lines were laid. Truck 5-7 was then set up for master stream operations.

Tanker 21 and Engine 21-2 responded, with both units setting up at the end of the driveway for the nurse tanker operation.

Engine 21-2's crew assisted at the scene with pulling tin and other overhaul. The building contained lath and other wood products that were later removed using a track hoe.

The 21 Units were in service for almost four hours before going available just after 17:00 hours.
Units: Tanker 21, Engine 21-2 Mutual Aid: Robert Fulton, Quarryville, Rawlinsville, Bart Twp, Refton, Rising Sun, Water Witch
