Matt,
Can't answer your question as to why, somebody more knowledgeable will have to do that, like Don, Hankey, or LB, but the database shows LCN 01 as the primary control channel, freq. 866.3250.

You said that you logged LCN 02, & 10 as control channels. They could very well be secondary control channels operating as the primary control channel might have had some issues. The system should have been designed with an secondary control channel built in to operate when the primary CC goes down. Kinda like an built in redundacy.

Most EDACS systems can utilize all channels as Control Channels if the primary goes down for whatever reason. Unlike Motorola, which only allows for 4 control channels.

I have a few EDACS systems in my area and they tend to flip-flop control channels probably to avoid one of the repeaters from burning out from constant use.

No, here is what happened.

Live Oak added another site to the Live Oak system to cover Alamo Heights etc. We thought they were going to add another simulcast site, however it appears that they added a seperate EDACS site broadcasting Site #12.

I'll post the updated LCN's for both sites here soon.

LCNs for the new site are:

01 868.9125*
02 868.6750
03 868.3375

They were taken from the Live Oak site, so LCN's 6, 8, and 10 are now out of service on the Live Oak Site.

TG 529 on the new site is patched to Alamo Heights PD VHF Primary.

if i understand this right, the Alamo Heights site is actually a FREE STANDING site at or near Alamo Heights?

should this be the case, wouldn't other agencies be enticed to buy time and equipment to operate off this TRS?

aside from political differences, there are a handful of agencies within effective operating range of this new TRS that could benefit from being on it...provided there are more LCN's added in the future...

thoughts?

i should have pointed out that there are a "handful of CONVENTIONAL system users" that are within range of this TRS tower who might be enticed to jump on the system and forget their political differences...

let's see: Castle Hills, Terrell Hills, Balcones Heights, Leon Valley (?), and so on...

Anyone know what is going to happen to Alamo Heights vhf channel line up? Like the Shavano Park and Hollywood Park mutli-cast sites. And do you think there primary will stay patched to the LO system?

Matt,
I would wait for the new LCN's to be posted for the Live Oak system, otherwise you probably wouldn't be able to monitor them correctly.

LB,
Appreciate the updated info.

The updated LCN is in the RR Database. For channels without a frequency just leave the corresponding channel in your scanner blank.

They have been simulcasting the old system onto the new system. While in town visiting last week, I went to Jim's at Broadway & 410 and a couple of their officers were there having dinner. One of them was carrying an HT-1000 and the other one was carrying what looked like a used LPE-200, I say this because the numbers on the keypad were worn off and the antenna was bent. I asked one of them if they were on the new San Antonio system and he said that they were in the process of changing radio systems and half of their officers were on the Live Oak system and the other half were on the old one.

I talked to a friend about this yesterday and he told me that the link that patches the two sides went down yesterday and that the patrol car radios were being installed this week. It wont be long.

Sorry for the stupid questions. I'm new to scanning.

I have a Pro-95 and use win95 to program it. I have the LO frequencies in one bank and the AH frequencies in another. I can hear LO but there is a bunch of "noise" after the transmission ends. The noise continues until another transmission is made (or until I get fed up and turn it off).

Am is doing something wrong? Do I need to adjust the fleet map? I have about a thousand other questions, but these will do for now.

Thanks

I found the answer to my own question in one of the other forums. Apparently is is not cool to have the priority on while scanning EDACS.

Don't worry. More questions to follow.
