Yes it's more than enough if you use someone like scanamerica.us to send your feed to. That way the bandwidth is used up on their end not your's. All you have to do is be able to send the audio over to their servers and it takes very very little bandwidth to do that on your 250k upstream.

I am using a 3000k/384k dsl line at home with 6 full time users and my scanner feed now makes that 7 full time users, and sending the audio from here to scanamerica.us has used very little bandwidth, and I've seen absolutely no difference in speed etc.

click here on how to do it:

is download speed 1200 or so and upload around 230 enough to stream ? ping is around 120 or so to 200
Yes.

Scanner audio is usually encoded at a bitrate of around 16kbps or 24kbps. If you host your own audio server, around 8 people (if you use a bitrate of 24kbps) to 13 people (if you use a bitrate of 16kbps) would be able to listen to your scanner at once.

You can figure out how many people would be able to listen at once by taking your upstream bandwidth (230) and dividing that by the bitrate you choose (16 or 24). You'll want to subtract one or two from that number to account for variances in your upstream bandwidth.

If you use someone else to host your audio (my site or some other hosting company) then only 16kbps/24kbps of your upstream bandwidth is used no matter how many people are listening since the listeners are connecting to someone else's server.

Send me an e-mail at gordon@scanamerica.us and I'll send you the setup instructions and software and set things up on my end. I'll need to know what agencies from the counties listed will be on the feed, Sheriff, Fire, and EMS?

Thanks,
