Does anyone have insight into how Livingston Fire dispatch works? From what I have noticed there does not seem to be any type of dispatch tones other than the 6pm nightly radio test. Instead I usually hear the dispatcher call out directly to "car 101" or something similar to that. How do the volunteers get notified of a call?

So 101, 102 are the paid EMS during the day. The FD is 200, 217 as chiefs, or F1, F2, F3 for deputies. The FD pages only when needed for a larger response otherwise chief's respond solo. There has not been a "general" alarm since Nov. The Fd has Engine company tones when it is felt an engine is required. The paid EMS is dispatched on RWJ OPS 3 and volunteer EMS (mostly evenings) dispatched with tones as well.

Interesting. There was a call that came in earlier this week for a smell of burning inside a house. Based on what I could hear it did not sound like they rolled an engine. As a retired volunteer I find that hard to believe.

Yesterday afternoon I heard several calls related to animal control on the 154.755 frequency. Police HQ was calling out to "Unit 390". Not sure if this is an animal control unit or DPW. Does DPW normally use this frequency?

Animal Control Division is part of Police Department. 309 is a van used by Animal Control, could you have heard that?

Yes that was probably it. I guess they were not switched over to NJICS with the rest of the PD.

Indeed Animal Control. DPW I think uses cell phones. LOL - Last I heard the old town manager took all their radios....

309 # has been retired. They use 390, 391 & once in a while there was a 392.
