Yeah, as these guys said, you want a short jumper of flexible cable to make the final connection to your radio. That takes most of the strain off the antenna jack on the radio.
For a short run, the losses are minimal, even with something like RG-58.
Order/find a custom cable that has the correct connectors on it, rather than using adapters. There are a number of companies that will make custom cables for you with whatever connectors you need.

You might plan on an N female on the LMR400 at the radio end and that will make it easier to find various kinds of jumper cables.
